Our Story
The four seasons constitute the heartbeat of a delicate natural ecosystem that is dependent on change in order to survive.
Just as autumn and winter represent a time of dusting the cobwebs and preparing for spring, so the warmer weather spurs new growth and vitality needed to thrive.
The earth’s seasons are a powerful force in our lives that affect what we do, what we wear and, quite often, the moods we are in. The ability to predict the seasons by tracking the rising and setting points of the sun throughout the year was key to survival in ancient times.
Babylonians, the Maya and other cultures developed complex systems to monitor seasonal shifts, but it took centuries more to unravel the science behind the seasons.
Likewise, successfully unravelling and applying the science behind the theories and practices of organisational change and development is fast being considered key to the success of organisations.
The AOC’s philosophy is based on this analogy that so aptly demonstrates the similarities between nature and the workplace. The earth’s seasons are therefore representative of the seasons that organisations go through during the various stages in their lifecycles or situations.
No one season is more or less important than the next. Each season has its value and when viewed collectively we can understand and complete change.
As different as winter is from summer, so too do different organisations ‘live’ in different change realities.
Similarly, organisations need to undergo significant change at various points in their development in order to thrive. This change is often represented by changes in strategy, organisational structure or business or operational practices.
Change is however an inevitability as all organisations experience change while evolving through various, natural lifecycles. The AOC therefore helps change practitioners optimise the effectiveness of an organisation’s environment and embrace the change needed to thrive and be successful.
The AOC aims to enhance the organisational change community by offering innovative, cutting-edge workshops, programmes and information briefings. Through this practitioners will learn to analyse organisations, identify critically important priorities and then undertake successful and significant change to address those priorities.
