Our Industry Board
The AOC has established an Industry Board to advise and direct the Academy on programme development and alignment of content and education, training and facilitation practices with Industry requirements.
The main purpose of the Board is far-reaching in seeking to generally improve the organisational change community and Industry, its status and productivity. It strives at all times to develop a common approach to the Industry’s training and skills development challenges, not only in its own interests but in the public interest as well.
Composition of the Industry Board:
The Industry Board comprises the following representatives:
- Chairperson: Industry Board
- Representative(s) from Board of Directors of the AOC
- Managing Director – AOC
- Chairperson of the AOC Academic Board
- External Industry representatives (minimum 6)
Functions of the Industry Board:
- Advising and directing the AOC Board of Directors and Academic Board and/or Management Committee on matters concerning programme content and development in alignment with Industry requirements;
- Evaluating and reviewing AOC programmes and learning materials towards continuous improvement and Industry relevance (the learning requirements of Industry);
- Providing direction and advice to the AOC and Industry to encourage further career development of AOC graduates, i.e. development plans, career pathing, mentorship programmes, etc;
- Determining Industry skills development needs and implementing initiatives towards addressing shortfalls (skills shortages, skills sets required, productive capacity within the industry, and levels of skill and proficiency);
- Identifying and communicating current and future Industry trends (local and international);
- Providing applicable information to enable the AOC to effectively liaise with the relevant Seta(s) and/or SGB(s) regarding skills needs, qualifications and/or unit standards;
- Providing applicable information to enable the AOC to effectively liaise with Government (Departments of Labour, Trade and Industry, Education, etc.) on matters concerning Industry skills development.
